What is the Android OS? Android is a Linux-based mobile phone operating system developed by Google. Android is a software stack for mobile devices that includes an operating system, middle ware, and key applications.

This operating system was developed by the Google Inc. owned, Open Handset Alliance for mobile devices such as the Smart phones and Tablet Computers. Android is unique because of Google’s active participation in the development of the platform. The company has given the operating system away for free to hardware manufacturers and phone carriers who want to utilize Android on their devices.

Its functionality derives from the fact that one can run activities in background and easily switch between apps almost instantly. With Android, one can set up the phone just the way he or she likes. The user can populate the home screens with widgets that can be linked to different applications or with the different system options.

Android has gained huge popularity in the global market. The most appealing characteristic is the number of applications which one can download from the Android Market. Presently, there are around 275,000 numbers of apps and almost each month several new ones make an entry into the Android Market. And the best part is that most of them are free or a free version of them is offered.

Google also plays its role in it by offering a free GPS navigation app with voice guidance facility. On top of that, Android Phones and Tablets also come with voice command option which enables people to control them with the use of speech.

The great diversity of devices which are powered by Android makes it a choice of a lot of people as they do not have to limit themselves with mobile devices from a single company. With Android, technology has no doubt touched a new height.

Nowadays lot of mobile phone companies are out in the market and almost all of them offer quiet similar features. Technology has evolved how the world lives and communicates in the 21st century. Cellular phone technology has been flourishing instrumentally in bringing the world together. I bought Sony Ericsson K-750 and that is a really wonderful mobile and the multimedia facility is outstanding with it’s sound as well as video. It has been giving a battery back of 4 to 5 days till date whereas I have bought a Nokia music Xpress few months back but it gives only 1.5 to2 days of battery back up. So I have some doubt of recent mobile phones whether they are providing quality products or not.

A genuine cell phone battery, that means original cell phone battery usually available with the mobile set, can be recharged a number of times. If the phone is not used frequently, then the battery should last for 3 years or even more. I have found that if music from cell phone is heard from cell phone speaker then it discharges very quickly than it is heard through head phone. Basically the life of a battery depends on the usage. However, other conditions also matter when dealing with a battery. Actually it is instructed to every customer when one buys a mobile from any shop that the phone should be charged by keeping it switched of. And it would have been more better if one avoids talking in cell phone by keeping the charge plugged on. With lithium ion and nickel cadmium batteries, it is a good idea to charge the battery when it is extremely low. This increases the life of a battery, as well as ensures that the battery is clean before being recharged again. So if few things can be kept in mind then the cell phone battery should last for 4 years.
